Feb 26 - Gentlemen. Clean Your Carpets!

24trackvac_pit_wall.jpgI never thought we’d be reviewing a vacuum cleaner on Sports Product Review. But when we stumbled upon the Track Vac from Vesture, (www.vesture.com), we thought we’d give it a try. You should too.

This instantly goes on our list of one of the coolest products we’ve ever reviewed. I brought it home over the weekend and let my son play with it for awhile as a remote-control car. Pretty fun, I thought, but no one’s going to spend that kind of money for a toy car. So I took it into the office, turned it on vacuum mode, shut the door and hopped in the shower. When I came back, the Track Vac was working away, gently bouncing from wall to couch to chair. The carpet sported appealing vacuum lines and the room even smelled fresher. I opened the dust bin, (no messy bags), and was amazed. From what I’d thought was a clean carpet, the Track Vac had removed a hamster-sized pile of dirt and dog hair. I took it into a bedroom and watched as it quickly, quietly and efficiently rolled under the bed, from carpet to bare floor, and everywhere else it saw fit, picking up everything in its path along the way. Again, it sucked up more hidden dirt.

There’s so much that can be said about the Track Vac. Choose one of several pre-programmed vacuum patterns, or just let it alone and it will figure out where to go. Have fun driving it with the remote, or simply lock it in a room somewhere and come back later to clean carpets. Got stairs and think you’re about to witness a spectacular end-over-end wreck? Track Vac senses the edge and turns around. The rechargeable battery pack provides 90 minutes of continuous vacuuming and NASCAR fans can choose from a Jimmy Johnson, Dale Ernhardt or Jeff Gordon model. It’s priced lower and works faster than other robotic vacuums. But most importantly, when time is becoming an ever-precious commodity, if the Track Vac gives us a few hours back each month, it pays for itself after just a few races, er, uses.
