April 13 - Get a Grip
Ever heard a baseball coach tell a player not to grip the bat so tightly? Yet players of all ages want to squeeze the bat like they’re holding a rope hanging over a cliff. Why? Because when a kid is throwing a rock at you from 60 feet away it feels like having a good, strong grip on the bat gives you a better chance to hit the ball hard. But, the truth is, increased muscle tension, (white-knuckle grip), decreases bat speed. Why do you think big-leaguers slather all that pine tar on their bats? Grip pressure. They want to achieve maximum grip with minimal muscle tension for best results.
Cutters Gloves, (www.cuttersgloves.com) understands. They design a full line of performance gloves with one-of-a-kind C-Tack material that provides the sticky yet subtle grip players need. I tried the O18P Cutters Pro (pictured) and have never felt more comfortable holding a bat. My high school playing son has never worn batting gloves because he doesn’t like they way the bat feels in his hands with them on. But that may change now. The Cutters Pro is designed with a C-Tack ‘kiss patch’ at the thumb in-seam to promote perfect hand alignment at every swing. And best of all, you feel in total control of the bat without squeezing it like you’re holding on for dear life.
You could wear an ordinary pair of batting gloves, but why? You want to be the best you can be. Cutters wants you to know that when you put on a pair of their gloves, it's all in your hands.
