July 19 - 180 Reasons to Take Care of Them

Beauty_Shot_EyeGear_Mortise_Motion.jpgWhen we first reviewed the Mortise sunglasses by 180’s (www.180s.com) we thought they were just a sunglasses company. But great-fitting glasses are just the beginning. 180’s, named one of the US’s most innovative companies, also makes top-of-the-line gloves, ear warmers, scarves, and training wear.

But it’s the glasses that continue to impress. Their unique, Motion Fit design means that, instead of sliding over your ears like most shades, they actually more wrap around your head, conturing to its natural shape. They’re so lightweight they feel like they’re not even there. Plus the nosepads and temples are made of hydrophilic megol, which means they grip when you sweat. This all adds up to an incredibly comfortable fit that won’t fall off your face, no matter what you’re doing.

Not content to stop there, the Mortise are great to look at and come with three sets of interchangeable poly-carbonate lenses with scratch-resistant coating and 100% UV protection. Yet the coolest feature of the 180’s is the pivot guard that enables the temples to rotate over the lenses in front. This not only offers lens protection when they’re not on your head, but makes them extremely portable. I’m always trying to figure out what to do with my sunglasses when the sun goes down or I walk inside a building, (on top of my hat, behind my neck, on the neck of my T-shirt), and nothing feels right. The Mortise can actually slide into a pocket and be virtually unnoticed until they’re needed again.

I’ve had mine for nearly a year, which may be a record for me. Maybe it’s because their compact design means I don’t lay them down and forget them. Maybe it’s because the rotating temples have kept the lenses like new. Or maybe it’s just because when you own something this good, you tend to take extra care to keep it around.
