February 17, 2009 - Get Down!

After more than a decade coaching my three son's Little League teams, it's my eleven year-old daughter's turn for dad to be the coach. The transition from baseball to girl's softball is not as great as some might think, but there are differences. The boys at this age are probably a little better players than the girls, but when you teach the girls something, they only need to hear it one time and they "get it." But one of the biggest adjustments I'm going through early in the season is getting some of the girls to slide. I haven't had to yell "Get down!" in the past two seasons as often as I've hollered it already in our first two games. A couple of years ago, we did a review of Cuzz sliding shorts. I'm going to recommend the girls on my team invest in a pair or two.

Cuzz Athletics, (www.cuzzathletics.com) makes some of the best sliding shorts on the market. Sporting a comfortable, snug fit and extra padding where it’s needed, my boy would have been confident enough to slide on gravel if he had to. A neoprene sliding panel covers the hip, thigh and rear area, and an athletic supporter, ready to house a protective cup, is built-in. The shorts are made of a Poly/Spandex fabric that wicks moisture away from your body for extreme comfort.

With advances in technology, we lose some of the past. When I played ball, “Raspberry” was part of baseball lingo. It was a badge of honor that everyone had, but no one wanted. Now, if I asked my kids after a game if they got a raspberry, they’d be looking around to see who brought fruit for a snack. I guess, thanks to Cuzz Athletics, that’s one piece of our heritage we’ll have to do without.
